Resource from De Sluetel

EU Kinship Carers ConferenceI think it is fair to say that Peer Van der Kreeft, the head of prevention at De Sluetel, caught the imagination of many of the people at our conference earlier this week when he talked about the resources they have produced for young children affected by parental substance misuse.

As Peer explained in his talk the idea was to produce or adapt resources that can be used with a universal audience, with a targeted group, and ones that could be used as indicated prevention.

Attached is the resource they produced which is aimed at kinship carers as a companion piece to the Bobbie story; a story about a little dog which tries to teach children to become moreĀ resilientĀ as a way of preventing drug use.

This book helps carers to understand what the Bobbie story is trying to achieve and gives practical advice to the reader on ways to develop the resilience of the child in their care.
