Italian Kinship Carers
Our partners in Abruzzo have recently finished making a short film in which two kinship carers talk about their experiences.
You will see that both carers speak warmly about the family groups that they have been involved with and the relationships they’ve built up with the social workers and psychologists that have worked with their families.
In the first interview we also see a story that shows that there are good outcomes for children and young people that have experienced kinship care, with the young man having secured a place at a university and working.
It is also clear just how much love there is in these families, with the grandfather calling his grandchildren “two treasures”, and pointing out how the older of the two looks for tips for life from him.

I am involved in researching kinship care in Ireland at University College Dublin . If you would like to know what is happening here / or if you are putting any future bids together, please contact me.
